Dez Wells was great for the Maryland Terrapins in the 2012-13 college basketball season. Although this may not be that surprising, he still managed to lead the team in scoring and he was considered a breakout player for the season.
After only averaging 9.8 points per game with Xavier, Wells put up 13.1 points per game with Maryland. He also shot 52.6 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from behind the arc.

Wells will be very important for the Terrapins for the upcoming season, since Alex Len declared for the 2013 NBA Draft. Len was the second leading scorer on the team, but that just means Wells has to be that much better.
Hopefully, the incoming freshmen will be able to make an instant impact on this team as well.
Maryland did not make the 2013 NCAA Tournament and who knows if it will next year. Whether the case, Wells dropped 30 points on Duke late in the season. If he could put up numbers like that more often, he could become one of the better players in college basketball, but he still has a ways to go. Luckily, Wells will only be a junior. Assuming that he stays at Maryland for two more seasons, he could really increase his draft stock and get better as a player in general.
After finishing the season with 25 wins, Maryland will try to better that in the upcoming season. If Wells can be even better and some other players can emerge on the team, the Terrapins may be able to compete in college hoops once again.
