New Big East Will Not Be Any Easier For Seton Hall Pirates

The Seton Hall Pirates did not have the best year in the 2012-13 college basketball season, since they managed to finish with a 3-15 Big East record, but the new Big East will unfortunately not be any easier on the Pirates in the upcoming season.

There will be some talent returning, but for the most part, I cannot see Seton Hall making the NCAA tournament in the upcoming season. The team is not changing enough for them to completely bounce back. However, stranger things have happened, like the Wichita State Shockers going on a Final Four run in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. No offense to the Shockers, but not many–if any–people predicted them to go on a run like that.

Some big names may no longer be apart of this Big East Conference, but Marquette and Georgetown will be and they will be the favorites to win the regular season title in the upcoming season. However, Butler and Creighton will be some new additions and both teams will have the talent to compete. Not to mention, St. John’s, Villanova and Xavier (another new Big East team) cannot be counted out.

So, although there will be no Louisville or Syracuse, this Big East Conference will be flooding with great basketball teams.

I wish I could say that the Pirates would bounce back and make some noise in the upcoming season, but there 15-18 record and Aaron Cosby transferring is telling me otherwise. This conference will definitely get its fair share of teams into the dance, but Seton Hall will likely not be one of them, at least for the 2013-14 season.
