Villanova Wildcats Have To Get Better On the Road In Upcoming Season

Villanova Wildcats

The Villanova Wildcats made the 2013 NCAA Tournament and finished four games back in the Big East Conference last season. However, if they want to take a step forward in the 2013-14 college basketball season, they are going to have to get better on the road.

The Wildcats were 12-4 at home, but just 6-7 on the road. They finished with an overall record of 20-14.

It will help that the Big East won’t be as good in the upcoming season, but it will still have plenty of great teams to say the least. Villanova is bringing back enough talent to compete for a conference title, but winning those road games will play a big part in that.

This is college basketball, though, and winning road games is not always easy. However, let’s put it this way. Louisville and Georgetown won a share of the conference title last season. Both teams finished with three losses on the road. The Wildcats finished four games back in the standings. Although not all of those road losses were in the Big East, this team sure could have made it more interesting by racking up more road victories.

Whether the case, winning road games does not just happen over night.

With another season in the books for JayVaughn Pinkston (along with some other players), Villanova could very easily become a better road team in the upcoming season. This was a team that was led by freshmen and sophomores this past season, so that alone could explain the road woes that this team faced.

Villanova should not be taken lightly regardless, and it very well could be in contention of winning a conference title come March.
