Which Washington Huskies team will show up in the 2013-14 college basketball season? Will it be the team that wins the Pac-12 regular season title and still doesn’t make the NIT? Will it be the team that goes 9-9 in conference play and once again makes the NIT? Or, will it be a Washington team that makes the NCAA tournament?
Along with those questions, many more remain on the court.
The Huskies are losing a great amount of talent, but leading scorer C.J. Wilcox will be back. Wilcox should have another great season and he will be one of the best players in the conference.
Still, a new point guard will have to emerge and other players will have to step up in the scoring department. Getting better at rebounding would also be a plus, along with many other things.
Sure, Washington finished with nine wins in conference play last year, but it was not a very good team. It did lose a total of 16 games. If incoming players can emerge though, the Huskies could be better than expected.
The Pac-12 has been a very competitive conference over the last couple of years and that will likely be the case in the upcoming season. Who knows if Washington will be one of those teams?
It will be interesting to see which Huskies team shows up in the 2013-14 season, but for the program’s sake hopefully it is the one that makes the Big Dance for the first time in two years.
