The AAC will consist of some great teams in the 2013-14 college basketball season, but which team will be the biggest surprise?
How about the Connecticut Huskies. Sure, a lot is expected out of them in the upcoming season, but how many people actually think they will win a national championship? Whether the case, Connecticut has the ability to do just that.
Just a season ago, the Huskies no longer had Jim Calhoun and they seemed like they were no longer going to be a powerhouse. However, Kevin Ollie did great in his first year as the head coach and the Huskies actually won 20 games when they really had nothing to play for–couldn’t make NCAA tournament.
Now that the team will be able to play in the postseason, it will have more to play for and it will show it all season long.
The Huskies will rock one of the best backcourts in the nation with Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright (among others) returning.
They will not be the favorites to win the conference title entering the season and that will easily go to the Louisville Cardinals.
Connecticut is not a dark horse or anything like that, but I am sure not many people are giving it a chance to beat out Louisville and Memphis for an AAC title. I am also sure that not many people think this team can earn a No. 2 or No. 3 seed in the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
Whether the case, the Huskies will surprise us all in the 2013-14 season by going off in a big way.
