The La Salle Explorers will not rock one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the 2013-14 college basketball season, but what will be their toughest game regardless?
The Explorers will play Villanova, Miami, Temple and Penn State (among others). Out of all of their out-of-conference schedule games, the Wildcats will likely be their toughest opponent.
Believe it or not, Villanova has a chance to win the Big East in the upcoming season. Who knows if it will be the popular pick to do so, but that really does not matter. Leading scorer Jayvaughn Pinkston will be back, however, he will not be the only key returnee.
La Salle won 24 games last season and even made a run to the Sweet 16. The same could be the case in the 2013-14 season, but I am sure the Explorers are hoping for much more.
If they plan on earning a decent seed in the dance–No. 13 seed last year–they have to beat Villanova. La Salle also cannot slip up against worse opponents and winning the Atlantic 10 Conference would also help out greatly.
Temple will be a challenge and that game is not a guaranteed victory for the Explorers. With that said, their out-of-conference schedule really does not look that bad right now. If La Salle wins out it could easily be ranked in the top 25 once A 10 play starts. However, that could happen a lot sooner than that.
The Explorers should be a good team once again in the upcoming season and beating Villanova would be a great win on the resume.
