The Memphis Tigers and Oklahoma State Cowboys could play each other two times in the 2013-14 college basketball season.
That is not even including a possible chance that the two meet in the 2014 NCAA Tournament and no these two teams do not play in the same conference.
Memphis will take on Oklahoma State on Nov. 19. The two could also meet in the Old Spice Classic. For that to happen, though, both teams would have to make it to the championship game.
If you have taken a look at either of the two team’s rosters for the upcoming season, you would know that it would be very likely for both teams to meet in the title game. Not just for the Old Spice Classic, but the national championship as well.
Marcus Smart will be returning for his second season with the Cowboys. As a freshman, he averaged 15.4 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game and 4.2 assists per game. Who knows what he is capable of in the 2013-14 season.
The Tigers will be returning leading scorer Joe Jackson and will have one of the best backcourts in the nation. It really helps that Missouri transfer Michael Dixon will get to take the court.
Both of these teams will have the talent to be ranked in the top five. Both will be national title contenders. So although Oklahoma State and Memphis will play on Nov. 19, I am sure many college hoops fans would love to see them clash in the Old Spice Classic title game.
