The Iowa State Cyclones will host one of the best teams in college basketball in the upcoming season.
I am sure you have heard of the Michigan Wolverines. You know, the team who made it to the national championship game last season.
The Wolverines will be without Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. Losing the national Player of the Year is never a good thing, but Michigan will be set in the 2013-14 season.
Mitch McGary and Glenn Robinson III will be back. Both players were freshmen last season and both players received significant minutes. There will be a battle at the most important position–point guard–but the Wolverines should be fine there despite losing Burke.
Michigan could be the best team in the Big Ten. That is saying a lot since we are talking about the Big Ten here.
As for Iowa State, it loses a bunch of players. However, some talent will be returning and this is a team that finished last season with an overall record of 23-12 and a Big 12 record of 11-7.
The Wolverines will definitely be the favorites in this one, but they will be on the road and Iowa State is not an easy opponent. It will be a great matchup nonetheless and Michigan should enter this game by being ranked in the top 10. The talent is there for it to make another NCAA tournament run.
This would be a huge victory for the Cyclones as I am sure you could have guessed. Either team would be getting a great win on the resume no matter how you look at it.
