The Gonzaga Bulldogs had arguably their best regular season in program history last year, which eventually led to a WCC title. Will they win the conference once again in the 2013-14 college basketball season?
Well, is there really anyone who will/can challenge them for a conference title?
Saint Mary’s finished two games back in the conference standings last year, but it will be losing leading scorer Matthew Dellavedova. BYU was the next best team in the WCC and it finished six games back in the standings.
With that said, the Bulldogs will be losing some talent, which includes leading scorer Kelly Olynyk. Olynyk was one of the best players in the country last season and his 17.8 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game were pretty hard to argue with. The frontcourt will definitely not be as good in the upcoming season. That just means that Gonzaga will not earn a No. 1 seed in the dance or finish with an overall record of 32-3.
Gonzaga is still likely the team to beat in the conference and that has been the case for a long time now. The team basically makes the NCAA tournament on a yearly basis and the same should be the case in the 2013-14 season.
Until someone actually dethrones the Bulldogs, they will be picked to win the WCC once again, which will lead to an NCAA tourney appearance.
This team is just way too dominant for the WCC. Will the Bulldogs win the WCC yet again, though? Probably. Which team will actually be good enough in the upcoming season to win it over them? I am still trying to figure out that question.
