SEC Media Day began today for the 2014-15 college basketball season, and the media has released its official preseason poll. Several top teams from last season have fallen from grace. Without further adieu, here are the rankings for the Southeastern Conference by the media.

The Bulldogs lost Craig Sword for the first 4-6 weeks of the season, which just about sums up the injury struggles this team has had under Rick Ray.

Remember, this is the official media poll and not my opinion. The Vols should be ranked much higher.

This team will win games they’re not supposed to win. Sindarius Thornwell is elite, and the rest of this team will rally around him.

11. Vanderbilt Commodores

Vanderbilt should be last. Damian Jones is a great young player, but the rest of the team is average at best.

10. Alabama Crimson Tide

This could be Anthony Grant’s last season if the Tide finish this low.

9. Texas A&M Aggies

The Aggies are another team that should be ranked higher. Far too much talent returns on this roster.

The Tigers are good, but are they eighth-in-a-deep-conference good?

The Tigers are ranked far too high, with several players suspended from discipline problems and no returning stars from the previous season.

Marshall Henderson is gone and the team will be better off for it. Look for Jarvis Summers to have a huge season.

5. Georgia Bulldogs

The Georgia Bulldogs are ranked No. 5 because of last year's performance and the duo of Kenny Gaines and Charles Mann. Don’t sleep on big man Nemanja Djurisic either.

No Johnny O’Bryant III, no problem. LSU returns quite possibly the best sophomore in the country in Jordan Mickey and a future NBA Player in Jarrell Martin.

3. Arkansas Razorbacks

Arkansas returns all of their key players from last season except one, and Coty Clarke was not the best player on the team. Bobby Portis and Rashad Madden will have this team dancing.

2. Florida Gators

The Gators lose most of their starters, but return an extremely talented group as well as several talented freshmen.

This one was a no-brainer, really. The Wildcats return the best players in the country and some of the most talented recruits.
