Two blue chip programs renew their rivalry in the Bluegrass state on Saturday at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. The number one Kentucky Wildcats haul their “9 for 5” across Kentucky and take on Louisville’s strong perimeter attack, suffocating press and inside presence of Montrezl Harrell. Louisville’s 2014 tournament loss to Kentucky still stings sour, and that’ll be more than enough to elevate this matchup to marquee.

Cauley-Stein’s minutes will be limited by no fault of his own, but his role in the blue platoon could be significant enough to alter the outcome. Kentucky is solid at every corner, wing and open area of the floor, but Willie Cauley-Stein will be front-and-center in what could boil down to a battle of big men.

A team has yet to score more than 70 points against the Wildcats’ continuously refreshing defense. Look for Louisville to hit the mark and surpass this threshold, giving Kentucky the formidable foe John Calipari’s been searching for in 2014.

A big part of the predicted 70-plus point output will come from Terry Rozier, and from behind the arc. Against Indiana, Rozier was 5-for-8 from deep, and in keeping with Kentucky, he may be compelled to shoot more.

Louisville’s press will permeate both Kentucky platoons on Saturday. Calipari will try to remedy this problem early, but the Wildcats won’t truly be able to adjust until the second half. Look for Louisville to hawk the ball hard and put Kentucky on their heels, making the Wildcats look sloppy at the start.

It’s a rivalry game at home for the Cardinals, and Kentucky is rusty from a seven-day holiday hiatus. Although Louisville played two lesser opponents in this time, they’ve likely remained in rhythm. This is the one shot at a Wildcats loss this season, and Louisville will take it.
