The Villanova Wildcats lost their first game of the 2014-15 college basketball season to a streaking Seton Hall squad away from home, and they follow that game with another away trip to play the St. John’s Red Storm. St. John’s and Villanova will face off on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 9 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1.

The Red Storm are also coming off of a loss, but they look to be in a lot worse shape than Villanova. After climbing as high as the No. 15 ranking, two straight losses have knocked them off their early-season high and have the Johnnies at the bottom of the Big East. St. John’s needs to get a win, because the Big East is one of the most talented all around conferences in college basketball, which will likely lead to more defeats down the road.

Villanova’s overtime loss to Seton Hall had more to do with the Wildcats underestimating an extremely talented team after jumping out to a 13-0 start to the season than Villanova being vulnerable. St. John’s is extremely talented and should cruise to a berth in the 2015 NCAA Tournament, but they are not going to beat Villanova in this one.

This game will come down to one main thing for both teams. St. John’s must limit at least three of Villanova’s scorers to win, and the Wildcats must get at least three players into double-figures to win. This game should be very close, but give Nova the edge as the Johnnies continue their downward spiral.

Prediction: Villanova 72, St. John’s 60
