Matchup: Duke Blue Devils (16-2) vs. St. John’s Red Storm (13-5)
Yes, you are seeing this right — the Duke Blue Devils and St. John’s Red Storm will play each other in the middle of conference play. Pretty exciting stuff.
Duke is a top team in college hoops, has top talent, has arguably the top player in the sport and we can go all day. St. John’s hasn’t been too shabby this year, though, and it has one of the best players in college basketball as well in D’Angelo Harrison.
Although the Blue Devils will without a doubt be the favorites coming in, St. John’s has the talent to pull off the upset.
What to Watch For
There are so many great players on Duke, but the best one is Jahlil Okafor. You know, the one who could end up going No. 1 overall in this summer’s draft.
As for the Red Storm, they have Harrison, who is averaging 19.5 points per game. Needless to say, he is going to have to score a bunch to keep St. John’s in this game, but players like Rysheed Jordan will have to show up as well.
Prediction
The Red Storm have the talent to make the dance, but it remains to be seen if they have the talent to beat a team as great as Duke. Although they should have no problem giving the Blue Devils a run for their money, I am predicting Duke to come away with the win.
Although all eyes will be on Okafor, players like Quinn Cook, Rasheed Sulaimon, Justise Winslow, Tyus Jones and I am just going to stop there, are all capable of dropping 20.
