Matchup: Notre Dame Fighting Irish (18-2) vs. North Carolina State Wolfpack (13-7)
The Wolfpack looked destined for the NCAA tournament after their victory over the Duke Blue Devils. Unfortunately, they have lost two since then, and already have seven losses on the season.
As for the Fighting Irish, they have already exceeded many people’s expectations. That just goes to show you how much of a difference Jerian Grant makes, and how good of a coach Mike Brey is.
Notre Dame still has a shot at the ACC title, but it also has to play Duke (twice), Syracuse and Louisville.
What to Watch For
Grant is the leading scorer of Notre Dame, but there is plenty of other scorers on the team. After all, three other players are averaging 13+ points per game.
Trevor Lacey is the leading scorer of NC State, and he has to continue that trend in this one. It remains to be seen if the Wolfpack will crash the dance, but Lacey is one of the more underrated players in this conference. It’s a shame that him and T.J. Warren weren’t able to play together last year.
Prediction
The Wolfpack need this win to stay in the ACC race. It doesn’t hurt to have more than one signature win either. In fact, that would certainly do wonders for this team once bubble season is in full effect.
With that said, Notre Dame is on a three-game winning streak. This should be a tough battle, but Grant and Co. are the better team coming in, and that will hold true after the contest.
