The Duke Blue Devils are not having a good week. Just a day after losing to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, this news broke:
BREAKING: Duke dismisses junior G Rasheed Sulaimon. He was averaging 7.5 PPG this season.
— ESPNU (@ESPNU) January 29, 2015
Has Rasheed Sulaimon met expectations during his time at Duke? No, not really. He certainly did in his first season with the team, when he averaged 11.6 points per game. As for this season, he is averaging just 7.5 points per game. However, he is also shooting 40.4 percent from behind the arc, which is pretty darn good to say the least.
Now, Coach K is one of the greatest minds in the sport, and he certainly had his reasons for dismissing Sulaimon, but the team will regret this decision in the end. With that said, the Blue Devils are absolutely stacked this season.
This could be a good thing for Sulaimon, and he would surely make a huge impact for most teams.
It will be interesting to see how this will actually affect Duke, but we will find out soon enough. After all, Virginia is a top team in college hoops.
