Matchup: VCU Rams (18-6) vs. George Washington Colonials (17-7)
The Rams may get most of the attention in the Atlantic 10, but teams like the Colonials have a great shot at dancing as well. After all, both teams are very close in the jam-packed conference standings, and George Washington did beat the Wichita State Shockers earlier in the year.
With that in mind, the A 10 is wide open, and it remains to be seen how many bids this conference will get. At this point, VCU is in, and George Washington could surely use a win in this one, especially since it already lost to the Rams once this year.
What to Watch For
Treveon Graham, once again, is one of the best players in the country who no one is talking about. The Ram is averaging 16.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. One big issue, though, is the fact that Graham is not at 100 percent. He hasn’t played in the last two contests.
The Colonials have two players who are putting up a little over 12 points per game, and one other player who is averaging more than 10.
Prediction
If Graham was 100 percent and if Briante Weber wasn’t lost for the season, the Rams would be the easy pick. They have already knocked off the Colonials once this season, and it wasn’t pretty (72-48).
George Washington could use another marquee win. Luckily, it gets this game at home, and VCU is on a two-game losing streak. The Colonials may have dropped a contest to Duquesne last game (ouch), but it will bounce back against Shaka Smart‘s squad this weekend.
