Matchup: Duke Blue Devils (21-3) vs. Syracuse Orange (16-8)
Although the rest of the Orange’s games are basically meaningless in the grand scheme of things, this is a good matchup on paper. Kind of. It’s Duke vs. Syracuse, which would usually be must-watch TV, but Duke is also one of the top teams in the country, and Syracuse simple is not.
Regardless, Jim Boeheim and Mike Krzyzewski are coaching against one another, so that is pretty cool.
What to Watch For
Jahlil Okafor is the main player to watch on either team, but the Blue Devils have talent up and down their roster. Plus, they are averaging a littler over 80 points per game.
Syracuse’s Rakeem Christmas is a very talented player. It’s a shame that he won’t get to play in the tourney this year, but he will still be a fun watch in this contest.
Prediction
Although Syracuse doesn’t have much to play for, you would think the team would still try to win games. We don’t want to call an upset in this one, but it could be close. That is the funny thing about college hoops — upsets happen all the time.
The obvious pick is Duke. After all, it is riding a four-game winning streak, is ranked as high as No. 4 in the country and has also only lost three games in 2014-15. Call it a non-bold prediction if you must, but we are going with the Blue Devils on the road. After knocking off the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Virginia Cavaliers in two of their last four games, they shouldn’t have any problem against the Orange.
