A pair of SEC teams in desperate need of a good win meet on Saturday when the Georgia Bulldogs visit the Alabama Crimson Tide at Coleman Coliseum.

Georgia is 16-9 overall and 7-6 in the SEC. Head coach Mark Fox has seen his team lose its last two games, both at home, but the Bulldogs are still clinging to NCAA Tournament hopes. Just a little more than two weeks ago, Georgia hung with the unbeaten Kentucky Wildcats at Rupp Arena before falling 69-58.

The Bulldogs don’t have a star, but they have outstanding balance on offense. Five Georgia players average in double figures, led by Marcus Thornton’s 12.4 points per game. Kenny Gaines scores 11.6 points per contest, while Charles Mann (11.5 points per game), Nemanja Djurisic (10.6 ppg) and J.J. Frazier (10.3 ppg) are also double figure scorers.

Alabama is now 16-10 overall and 6-7 in the SEC. The Crimson Tide are not only fighting for their postseason lives, they are likely fighting for Anthony Grant’s job. If Alabama falls flat down the stretch, Grant could be out in Tuscaloosa.

The Crimson Tide are 4-7 in their last 11 games, so they aren’t exactly getting it done down the stretch. Levi Randolph leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.0 points per contest. Ricky Tarrant averages 13.1 points per outing, while Rodney Cooper scores 10.2 points per game.

Georgia is due to play well after a couple of disappointing losses. However, Alabama is always tough at home and should be able to keep this game close. Fox will have the Bulldogs fighting for their NCAA Tournament lives, and that should be enough to get a road win.

Final score prediction: Georgia 71, Alabama 69
