Matchup: Oklahoma State Cowboys (18-12) vs. Oklahoma Sooners (21-9)
Want to decide the winner of this game or the winner of the Big 12 tournament? Get a coin and start flipping it. Sure, the Kansas Jayhawks may be the top dogs, but this conference runs deep.
Oklahoma swept the regular season series. Now, the smart person would pick the Sooners to win this game based off of that fact. However, it is so hard for a team to beat another team three times in one season. That is especially true with the Cowboys. After all, they should be dancing this year.
What to Watch For
Let’s make this as simple as possible. Oklahoma’s Buddy Hield is the Big 12 Player of the Year. Oklahoma State’s Le’Bryan Nash and Phil Forte III can certainly hold their own, though. Although those aren’t the only three talented players in this game, they are definitely the top three you need to keep an eye on.
Prediction
I have to go with the Cowboys. Oklahoma will go on to earn a higher seed in the dance, but third time’s the charm, right? That is definitely what Oklahoma State is hoping for.
Limiting Hield will be no cakewalk, but something tells me Nash and Forte III are going to rise to the occasion. Maybe it is the fact that they are both averaging more than 15 points per game?
No matter what the case, look for the Cowboys to pull off the upset in the Big 12 tourney.
Oklahoma State 67, Oklahoma 63
