Game 6 of the 2015 SEC tournament tips off at 9:25 p.m. ET on the SEC Network, as the No. 6-seeded Ole Miss Rebels face the No. 11-seeded South Carolina Gamecocks. The winner will move on to face the No. 2-seeded Georgia Bulldogs in the quarterfinals.
South Carolina are coming off of an expected opening-round win over the Missouri Tigers, but are far more dangerous than most people realize. A top 100 RPI team, the Gamecocks lost eight of their 15 losses by less than six points. South Carolina’s schedule may not look great, but they are more than capable of pulling off some big conference tournament upsets.
Ole Miss is headed to the 2015 NCAA tournament behind the play of Jarvis Summers and Sebastian Saiz, but should give tons of credit to Stefan Moody. A transfer playing in his first year for the Rebels, Moody is arguably the most clutch player in the country. He has savd this team from defeat more than a few times and is the type of player who can lead Ole Miss to upsetting heavily-favored teams in the Big Dance.
I like South Carolina and think that they could pull off the upset, but I feel like it’s not going to happen. Ole Miss dominated in their lone matchup on the season, and the Rebels are all-around a better team. The Gamecocks could sneak into the 2016 NCAA tournament, but it looks like their 2014-15 season will end Thursday night.
