The NCAA tournament is all about underdogs knocking off the favorites — well, we at least love to see those upsets happening left and right — but the Belmont Bruins are not beating the Virginia Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers have only lost three games this season. Let me remind you that they play in the ACC. However, they still did not receive a No. 1 seed in the 2015 NCAA tournament. The Cavs have lost two out of three, so that should give Belmont some hope.

Speaking of Belmont, it has lost a total of 10 games, but it is riding a seven-game winning streak.

What to Watch For

Virginia’s defense is elite. That is the main thing going for the Cavaliers. However, players like Malcolm Brogdon, Anthony Gill and Justin Anderson can all put the ball in the hoop at a decent rate (all averaging over 11 PPG).

Craig Bradshaw is putting up 18.1 points per contest and he is coming off a 25-point game against the Murray State Racers. He could definitely use another 20-point outing against Virginia.

Prediction

Belmont was not the best team in the OVC this year. It just so happened to win its conference tournament, which is really all that matters when it comes to making it. Sure, the Bruins are dancing, but they won’t be doing so for long.

Virginia is a serious threat for the title and its defense is a big reason why. The Cavaliers should cruise to victory as a result.

Belmont 45, Virginia 67
