5 Biggest 2015 NCAA Tournament Snubs From Selection Sunday By Jerry Landry PREV NEXT 5 Biggest NCAA Tournament Snubs From Selection Sunday Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports In the most manic 30 minutes of anticipated television, the selection committee revealed their 2015 NCAA tournament bracket. As with every field finalized by the committee, there were questionable teams included and several teams that were inexplicably snubbed. Although the field now includes 68, there were still some teams that seemed much more deserving than others. Here are the five biggest blunders by the committee in 2015. 5. Murray State Racers Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports 5. Murray State Racers Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports Losing by one point to the Belmont Bruins ruined everything for the Murray State Racers. Posting a 27-5 record coming from the Ohio Valley conference was not enough to positively influence the committee. You could argue the Racers played nearly parallel to the Wichita State Shockers (SOS: 119) which "earned" the 28-4 Shockers a No. 7 seed. 4. Old Dominion Monarchs Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports 4. Old Dominion Monarchs Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports The No. 45 RPI won’t get the Old Dominion Monarchs into the field of 68. Having only one top-50 win (against the VCU Rams) is both a case for and against the Monarchs’ tournament resume. Going 7-3 in their last 10 was also a contentious point for the committee. 3. Richmond Spiders Amber Searls-USA TODAY Sports 3. Richmond Spiders Amber Searls-USA TODAY Sports There will be no deep runs from the Richmond Spiders in the 2015 NCAA tournament. A No. 58 RPI and a 19-13 record apparently didn’t render Richmond worthy of the tourney. Playing the nation’s 32nd-toughest schedule and coming away with three wins against the top 50, Richmond fans must be wondering if the tournament recipe has changed for 2015. 2. Colorado State Rams Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports 2. Colorado State Rams Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports The Colorado State Rams filed the nation’s No. 57 BPI and No. 29 RPI to the committee, but those metrics couldn’t provide the momentum to sway the final verdict. The Rams' 118th-ranked strength of schedule likely factored into this decision, and their 26-6 record was apparently not impressive enough. 1. Temple Owls David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports 1. Temple Owls David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports Remember when the Temple Owls beat the future Midwest No. 2 seed Kansas Jayhawks by 25 points? Apparently the selection committee did not. Temple won 11 of their last 14 games, but this ultimately didn’t matter either. On one hand Kansas is a Big 12 juggernaut, but on the other the Jayhawks don’t amount to a quality win. Temple fans have every right to be furious and burn some couches on Broad Street.
