The UNLV Rebels have landed one of the best recruits in the country in Stephen Zimmerman. He will make the Rebels very dangerous in the Mountain West Conference and possibly deep into March.
Zimmerman is a freakishly athletic center who can do just about everything on both ends of the floor. He can attack the rim at will and has an impressive jump shot, even from outside. UNLV has always been able to land some big recruits, but Zimmerman is the recruit set to propel this team to greatness.
Zimmerman will obviously need a little help, and if Christian Wood returns, then UNLV will be on everyone’s radar. Wood was a terrific player for UNLV last season who put up monster numbers, and big man Goodluck Okonoboh will also return to the Rebels, which is huge for this team. The Rebels will have both experience and youth, especially if Wood returns to school.
The bottom line is simple: The Rebels can be very good next season, and the signing of Zimmerman and other top recruit Derrick Jones will help this team finally make some noise in the Mountain West and the NCAA tournament. Coach Dave Rice has been on the hot seat for the past couple seasons, but this team should be able to get him permanently off of it.
UNLV has landed yet another big-time recruit in Zimmerman. If the Rebels can get him to gel together with their returning squad, they will be one of college basketball’s rising teams next season.
