The Florida Gators just lost the face of their program. Where do they go from here? Well, Dayton head coach Archie Miller would certainly be a great start.
Hearing more and more that Dayton’s Archie Miller will be the prime target to replace Donovan at Florida.

Billy Donovan turned Florida’s basketball program into a powerhouse. That speaks for itself. You know, since Florida is known as a football school first and foremost. The future Gators coach is going to have some extremely large shoes to fill. Donovan did win two titles during his time at Florida. Although Miller would certainly be a great starting point, there are clearly other candidates for the job.

In Miller’s time at Dayton, he has done some serious coaching. The Flyers, of course, don’t get top recruits on a yearly basis. However, that did not stop Miller’s Flyers from making the Elite Eight in the 2014 NCAA tournament. A spot in the round of 32 was not too bad this past season either.
It is amazing to think Dayton was able to have so much success this past season with no players taller than 6-foot-6. Basically everyone on the Kentucky Wildcats was at least 6-foot-6 in 2014-15 (sorry, Tyler Ulis). Just imagine what Miller could do at a school like Florida, which is no stranger to landing very talented recruits.
After losing a coach as great as Donovan, there is no doubt that Florida should take its time with this hire. However, if the Gators can somehow lure Miller away from the Flyers, that should be option No. 1.
