The undefeated and ranked Oregon Ducks will travel to Las Vegas to take on the one-loss UNLV Rebels later on today. Once again, early on in the 2015-16 college basketball season, we have another great non-conference matchup (there have been a ton already this year).
The Ducks already have a quality win on the season which came against the Baylor Bears. At the time, Baylor was ranked in the top 25, and the NCAA tournament committee will certainly take note once March Madness rolls around.
The Rebels suffered their only loss against the UCLA Bruins, a team that just got done knocking off the Kentucky Wildcats, who were ranked No. 1 in the country. However, UNLV’s quality win came against the Indiana Hoosiers, a team that was expected to compete for a Big Ten title but has done some struggling early on.
The Ducks’ leading scorer is Tyler Dorsey (14.7 PPG), but the team also has four other players putting up 10+ points per game. Meanwhile UNLV’s Patrick McCaw has been a scoring machine, and he has the 19 points per game going for him to prove it.
This clash plays pretty close on paper — despite Oregon being undefeated and ranked — and that is exactly how I see it playing out. However, the slight edge goes to the home team.
PREDICTION: Ducks 68, Rebels 72
