The Creighton Bluejays enter this bragging rights game desperate for a win. Not only are they 5-3 on the year, but they have dropped their last two games. As for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, they bring a 6-3 record to this clash, and are riding a one-game winning streak.
The Cornhuskers’ most notable win has come against the Tennessee Volunteers, while the Bluejays’ most notable victory came against the Massachusetts Minutemen. Needless to say, both teams could use a signature win right about now.
What Nebraska does have is two players who are averaging 16+ points per game. Those kinds of threats are always very valuable … even if no one else outside of those two are averaging in double figures. Meanwhile, Creighton attacks opposing defenses with a balanced unit, as it has five players who are averaging 10 or more points per game.
The Bluejays are also averaging a whopping 85.3 points per game, which is near the top 25 in the country in the scoring department. The Cornhuskers come in at 75.8 PPG in that category.
I’m going with Creighton getting back on track after dropping two straight — who’s with me? If we are lucky, this will be a close one all the way through. Who knows, maybe we will even get a taste of some overtime (wishful thinking much?).
Neither team wants to drop its fourth game of 2015-16 this early in the game, but that destiny is unfortunately going to go down for one of the two squads.
PREDICTION: Cornhuskers 73, Bluejays 80
