Believe it or not, the sky is the limit for the Louisville Cardinals and Wake Forest Demon Deacons entering ACC play.
Louisville’s story: Despite the fact that the off-the-court issues were a distracting mess entering 2015-16, the Cardinals have gotten off to a 11-2 start, and they also have a top 25 ranking to show for it. That said, their two losses have come against ranked opponents, which just so happened to be the only ranked opponents they have taken on so far (Michigan State and Kentucky).
Wake Forest’s story: The Demon Deacons hold a 9-3 record. Their losses have come against Richmond, Vanderbilt and Xavier. However, they have already taken down teams like Indiana, UCLA and LSU.
Both squads are in great shape when it comes to making the NCAA tournament, but only half the battle has been fought so far — because both teams stand at 0-0 in ACC play.
If Wake Forest — or any team for that matter — plans on knocking off Louisville, it will have to find a way to get past its stingy defense. The Cardinals are only allowing 57.4 points per game (ranked No. 2 in college hoops). In comparison, the Demon Deacons are giving up a whopping 78.1 PPG.
Two players to keep an eye on in this game and for the rest of the season: Devin Thomas for Wake Forest and Damion Lee for Louisville.
As for the result of this clash, it is hard to go against the Cardinals’ defense at home, so no sense in fighting it.
PREDICTION: Demon Deacons 61, Cardinals 71
