In a conference as difficult as the Big 12, there are going to be good and bad days for every team.
The Baylor Bears are coming off one of the worst games in recent memory, where the Kansas Jayhawks absolutely demolished them in Lawrence, 102-74.
Next up for Baylor, however, will be an opportunity to redeem themselves at home, as they face a talented Oklahoma State Cowboys team that looks more than capable of making a push for the 2016 NCAA tournament.
Unfortunately for Oklahoma State, however, the Cowboys are in desperate need of a marquee win over a clear 2016 NCAA tournament bound team. “Bad” losses to Missouri State and George Mason have left this team in the precarious position of needing to defeat top teams in conference play in order to sneak into the bubble talk. In the Big 12 where no team has less than eight wins, upsets are hard to come by.
That being said, I like Oklahoma State to pull off an upset sometime in conference play. The Cowboys’ defense is fantastic and their offense has to show up sometime.
However, Baylor is undefeated at home this season and will rebound in a big way from their crushing loss to the Jayhawks. Taurean Prince and Rico Gathers should be able to control this game, and I’m not sure Oklahoma State’s offense can compete with Baylor’s offense, especially at home.
The Bears win big and gain much needed momentum for their showdown with the Iowa State Cyclones on Jan. 9.
Prediction: Baylor 72, Oklahoma State 60
