The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have one major thing going for them entering the showdown with the Duke Blue Devils. That thing: They get Duke at home. Also, and for all it’s worth, the Blue Devils are not invincible in 2015-16. Unfortunately, neither is Wake Forest.
The Demon Deacons already have four losses on the season, and they are already 0-1 in conference play. Of course, this squad did make some noise — and made that NCAA tournament resume look pretty solid in the process — by knocking off Indiana and UCLA early on in the season. A win against LSU can also be thrown on that NCAA tourney resume.
Duke might be the defending national champs, but it has lost its two toughest games (so far), which came against Kentucky and Utah. The Blue Devils haven’t knocked off a single ranked foe — if you can believe that.
Still, this is Duke we are talking about — it is loaded with talent. Look no further than Grayson Allen to figure that one out. He is averaging 20.6 points per game, and he is not alone — because once again, Duke is stacked.
As for Wake Forest, it has three players who are averaging 12 or more points per game.
The ACC is filled with title contenders this season, so a team like Duke can’t really afford to drop this game. Of course, a win against the Blue Devils would go a long way for the Demon Deacons, but who really sees that one coming?
PREDICTION: Blue Devils 90, Demon Deacons 75
