The North Carolina Tar Heels dropped two games pretty early on in the 2015-16 college basketball season. Now look at them. The Tar Heels have ripped off nine wins in a row and are ranked No. 2 in the country. Basically, they are back to being a top team in this sport, which is what many folks pictured entering the season.
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are the poor team that will have to take on the Tar Heels next. The momentum train certainly isn’t on Wake Forest’s side. It has lost two games in a row and four of five. The Demon Deacons also only have a 1-4 ACC record, which doesn’t exactly scream NCAA tournament team.
Although Wake Forest is going in the wrong direction awfully fast, fans can’t forget that this squad has taken down the Indiana Hoosiers and UCLA Bruins on the season. Fans also can’t forget that UNC’s two losses came in upset fashion — to say the least.
North Carolina’s two losses came against the Texas Longhorns and Northern Iowa Panthers, yet it knocked off teams like the Maryland Terrapins and Florida State Seminoles. College basketball, for better or worse, has been crazy in 2015-16.
Considering North Carolina is putting up a massive amount of points per game (86.4), it will be playing at home and it has been fire lately, the Demon Deacons’ odds of pulling off the upset aren’t looking too hot.
To sum everything up, this ACC battle has blowout written all over it.
PREDICTION: Demon Deacons 73, Tar Heels 88
