TV Schedule: Thursday, Jan. 21, 11:00 p.m. ET, Pac-12 Network
Arena: Maples Pavilion, Stanford, Calif.
Line: Arizona (-5.5)
The Arizona Wildcats came into Pac-12 play with the expectations of running away with a mediocre conference. Since then, however, the Pac-12 has turned out to be one of the better conferences in college basketball and Arizona has lost both of their conference road games.
Next up for the Wildcats is a trip to Maples Pavilion to face off with the Stanford Cardinal on Thursday night.
Like Arizona, Stanford currently has two conference losses on the season. The difference between these two teams, however, is that the Cardinal dropped a game at home to the Colorado Buffaloes. Stanford is a talented team, but they are nowhere near the upset machine that they have been for the past few seasons which should show on Thursday night.
Although Arizona is favored in this one as they should be, the Wildcats should be nervous about losing yet another conference game on the road. Winning at home is great, but if you cannot get it done on the road you will not win the conference regular season title. A loss here could cause the Wildcats to drop to two games behind first in the Pac-12 standings, which gives them quite the mountain to climb from here on out.
That being said, I believe Arizona gets over the hump in this one. The Wildcats are one of the best teams in the country despite their struggles, and they will finally get it together against a Stanford team that is still looking for an identity on offense.
Prediction: Arizona 77, Stanford 65
