The Duke Blue Devils and Miami Hurricanes will take the court against one another later on today. Typically, Duke would be the clear-cut favorite coming into a contest with the Hurricanes. However, this has not been the same Duke team that won a national championship just one season ago, and Miami has looked like an ACC title contender.
The struggling Blue Devils, who finally won a game after dropping three straight, enter this contest with a 15-5 record. Miami enters with a 15-3 record.
While Duke has looked rather vulnerable in ACC play (you know, since it is just 4-3 in conference play), it is important to note that this squad still has plenty of talent. Players like Grayson Allen and Brandon Ingram are on the team, after all. Both stars are averaging more than 17 points per game.
Let’s talk some season averages: The Hurricanes are putting up 79.2 points per game and allowing 64.7 PPG. Duke is averaging a beastly 85.7 PPG and giving up 70.8 PPG.
A win for either team would go a long way. That is the case for both ACC title contention and building up that tournament resume.
While the Hurricanes will be playing at home and have a good amount of scorers who can keep up with the Blue Devils, I am predicting Duke to go on quite the run. A road win, which came last contest, was exactly what this team needed.
Nonetheless, this should be an entertaining clash played between two of the better teams in the ACC.
PREDICTION: Blue Devils 76, Hurricanes 69
