Here’s yet another great ACC matchup. In this week’s ACC festivities, we have the North Carolina Tar Heels taking on the Louisville Cardinals.
Not only are both squads, of course, powerhouses, but both are also battling it out for an ACC title. The Cardinals are 17-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play. The Tar Heels stand at 19-2 and are 8-0 in the ACC.
Although the Cardinals have had a surprisingly good season so far, North Carolina is on fire. It has now won 12 games in a row — just in case you were wondering.
On top of the national recognition, No. 2 ranking and national title contender status, the Tar Heels also have two of the best players in the country in Brice Johnson and Marcus Paige. Of course, those two studs are not alone when it comes to serious talent on Roy Williams‘ team.
The player UNC needs to watch out for is Damion Lee. Currently, he is averaging 16.7 points per game and shooting 36.4 percent from behind the arc.
Records, rankings and all of that other fun stuff aside, Roy Williams vs. Rick Pitino is a must-watch event. The Cardinals will have their fans on their side thanks to home-court advantage, but the Tar Heels are dropping opponents left and right these days.
Although there hasn’t been a clear-cut No. 1 team in the 2015-16 college basketball season (as expected), North Carolina has been consistent, for the most part, all season long. Plus, it started off as a top team in this sport, and that is still clearly the case.
PREDICTION: Tar Heels 79, Cardinals 70
