Not only does this matchup have Big 12 showdown written all over it, but it is a top 15 matchup as well.
Baylor enters this fine Saturday in college basketball with a 17-5 overall record and conference record of 6-3. Meanwhile, West Virginia will do battle with an overall record of 18-4 and Big 12 record of 7-2.
Although the Kansas Jayhawks have dominated this conference for a very long time (and they are still good), this might be the year when they finally get kicked off the Big 12 thrown. Baylor and West Virginia could play a big part in that as well, and both teams are still very much alive in the conference title race. You know, since the Mountaineers are tied at the top of the conference standings and the Bears are just one game back.
With that said, this showdown has plenty on the line.
Baylor isn’t exactly driving the most powerful momentum train into this contest, as it lost its last game. West Virginia, on the other hand, knocked off the Iowa State Cyclones on the road in its last contest.
Looking ahead: The Mountaineers will take on Kansas after this clash — because there are apparently no games off in the Big 12. The Bears have the Kansas State Wildcats next.
This game could go either way, but going against the home team is never an easy thing to do in conference play. Therefore, in prediction fashion, West Virginia will come out on top, and will have its eyes set on the Big 12 crown as a result.
PREDICTION: Bears 73, Mountaineers 77
