TV Schedule: Sunday, March 6, 4:30 p.m. ET, CBS
Stadium: Assembly Hall (Indiana)
The Maryland Terrapins and Indiana Hoosiers are locks for the 2016 NCAA tournament. Heck, the Big Ten regular season title has already been decided since the Hoosiers have a 1.5-game lead in the conference standings with just one game remaining.
Still, these are two of the best teams in the country going head-to-head in what should give us a little glimpse of March Madness — because the matchups in March Madness tend to be must-watchers.
This will be the first meeting of the season between these two squads and the winner is anyone’s guess. After all, Indiana is the Big Ten champ, it has Yogi Ferrell and it also gets this contest at home. However, giving the ball back to the Terrapins, they entered the season as one of the best teams in the country (that is still the case), they have talent all over the court (I’m looking at you, Melo Trimble) and they have only lost six games total in 2015-16.
Needless to say, both squads are more than capable of not only going far in the dance, but winning the entire NCAA tournament as well. But first, this matchup must be played and the madness that is the Big Ten tourney (and other conference tournaments) must take place as well.
By the way, the winner of the Big Ten tournament? Who knows who that will be. This conference is stacked with title contenders.
Ferrell and Trimble on the same court? Yeah, see you there.
PREDICTION: Terrapins 77, Hoosiers 81
