Villanova won its second title on Monday night in dramatic fashion. While the Wildcats are still celebrating, the rest of the country is focused on who will win the title next season.
Duke is the 9-2 favorite to cut down the nets. Grayson Allen will return for his junior season as will Amile Jefferson, Matt Jones and Luke Kennard. The Blue Devils will also add the nation’s second ranked freshman class.
Who has the top ranked class? Kentucky, of course! Big Blue Nation will enjoy watching some of the best diaper dandies the country has to offer. Coach Cal’s team will reload and are the second favorite at 6-1.
Don’t sleep on the defending champions. It is easy to think the Cats will regress with the departures of Ryan Arcidiacono and Daniel Ochefu but just about everyone else is coming back. Josh Hart and Kris Jenkins are going through the draft process but could still return to school. Along with Jalen Brunson and Phil Booth, Jay Wright’s team will have plenty of ammunition to try to repeat. The bookmakers give Nova 8-1 odds to run it back.
Louisville (10-1) and North Carolina (12-1) are likely candidates to make deep runs in next year’s tournament but will either be eligible to compete? Potential NCAA sanctions threaten both programs.
The rest of the top ten are a who’s who of college basketball. Blue bloods Kansas and Michigan State have 10-1 and 12-1 odds respectively. The Hoosiers are 20-1 as are Virginia and Oregon.
Here are the latest odds for who will win the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
