Notre Dame has always been able to recruit players in every area of the country with its independency, brand name and national exposure. Now, with their move to a new conference, Notre Dame will be able to recruit on an even higher level.
As the school moves to the ACC, the Irish will play five games against conference teams in the future. Once again, we see a major shift in conference realignment. It’s the name of the game in college ball now and Notre Dame is taking part while remaining Independent.
What a sweet deal for BK (Brian Kelly) and his boys. Not only will it enhance the Irish’s already treacherous schedule every year, but it will boost recruiting like none other. Top-rated athletes come from ACC soil and the Irish will now claim territory in the land where speed reigns.
Kelly has put focus on ACC area states early during his time with the Golden Domer’s. From the 2010-2013 classes, 51 percent of players have come from a state that has an ACC school. You can only believe he’ll nail that area even harder now as the Irish will play each conference school once every three years.
Selling a recruit on playing close to home will never be an issue, just look at the Irish’s frequent flyer miles from their global independent schedule. Not too mention Notre Dame’s deal with the NBC Network, allowing people to watch the Irish from anywhere in the country. This move makes Notre Dame even more of a Notre Dame.
