There is no pressure on the line for the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Miami Hurricanes.

Right?

Absolutely not as both teams are trying to save the world from the Duke Blue Devils appearing in the ACC Football Championship Game.

Not that an appearance by the Hokies or the Hurricanes would be any better. But it could be worse. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are still alive too.

Alright, enough with the sadness and the silliness. Tonight’s second act of ACC Football as the showcase game for ESPN Thursday Night College Football will definitely give the nation a much better game. In fact, it might be a classic. Both the Hokies and the Hurricanes have had a week off to prep for the battle in Miami, Florida.

One would think this would benefit both defenses, but there is one big problem: neither team really has one. Statisitcally, Virginia Tech has put together a much better resume for 2012, as it ranks 5th in scoring and total defense while it comes in at 8th in rushing defense and 2nd in passing defense. Somewhat impressive.

On the flip side, Miami is dead last, yes, DEAD LAST in every defensive category.

So, how is this suppose to benefit the Hurricanes and make this a thrilling game?

Viginia Tech’s offense is completely hit or miss all season.

Plus, Hokie QB Logan Thomas is attempting to build a 2013 NFL Draft resume that begins tonight in prime-time.

The Fighting Al Golden’s in Miami have the athletes to put pressure on Tech much like the 13th-ranked Clemson Tigers did and Thomas will put up huge numbers but make a costly mistake or two in the passing game.

Take the over in this game and the Hurricanes to win and cover at home, 44-40.
