They say everything in Texas is bigger. If the UCLA Bruins latest verbal commitment is any indication, the aforementioned statement is an honest assessment. Caleb Benenoch a massive 6’5″ 321 pound guard out of Katy will be doing his blocking for the blue and gold.
Monday, the four star rated offensive lineman by every major service committed to UCLA, after being courted by several big-time programs. Head coach Jim Mora has already been praised for his prowess on the recruiting trail, notably his ability to stockpile the big uglies.
What Benenoch represents is the eighth offensive line commitment for the Bruins class of 2013. Mora is making no secret that he wants his team’s strength to be in the trenches. So far of the eight offensive line commitments, five are given four stars by Rivals with the others given three stars.
Benonoch may prove to be the class of the bunch in the run blocking arena. A gigantic body with a reputation for physical toughness and pure strength, the new addition is sure to be popular with his teammates in the backfield.
On film Benonoch finishes his blocks and overpowers anyone unlucky enough to be in his way. Mora has earned goodwill in year one guiding UCLA to a South Division title and a win over cross-city rival the USC Trojans.
Watching the Bruins in person, they just looked like a large team with NFL size bodies. I’m sure that’s the look that the former pro coach is going for.
Chalk another one up for UCLA.
