New Florida State Defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt sure has gotten busy quickly. Hired in late December, Pruitt helped flip DeMarcus Walker‘s commitment from the Alabama Crimson Tide to the Seminoles. Pruitt was the defensive backs coach at Alabama last year and crucial in the recruiting of Walker to Alabama initially.
I am committed to Florida State University #GoNoles

There were a lot of factors in the decision, but ultimately he felt more comfortable with Pruitt. He also wanted his mom to be able to come and watch him play, which would not have been possible at Alabama, but FSU is only 2.5 hours from his home town.
FSU is 2.5 hours from my house and AL is 8.5. I want my mom who I haven’t been with for a long time to see me play. This was the only way

His head coach agreed with that assessment, but he also stressed Pruitt’s connection to Walker as important.
“He really got kind of nervous about going that far away from home,” Sandalwood coach Adam Geis said. “I think DeMarcus, in the end, felt more comfortable with Jeremy.”
Walker will challenge for playing time immediately with the ‘Noles, and he will be doing so with absolute comfort. Comfort will be a good thing for Walker during his freshman year, and his mom will be able to go to his games, which should be an added comfort in addition to Pruitt.
