Mississippi State Bulldogs, Dak Prescott Hope to Make Statement on Saturday
Dak Prescott, quarterback for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, probably doesn’t get the credit he deserves. Prescott plays in the mighty SEC Western Division, which has several very good quarterbacks. When the discussion comes to which one is the best, it seems that Prescott is usually the odd man out.
On Saturday in Starkville, Prescott could have a chance to change that. His Mississippi State team, ranked 12th in the country this week, hosts the sixth-ranked Texas A&M Aggies in a showdown between two explosive signal callers.
Prescott has been very good so far for MSU, completing 60 percent of his passes for 964 yards and 11 touchdowns, with just two interceptions. He has also rushed 62 times for 378 yards and three more scores.
Texas A&M’s quarterback, Kenny Hill, has also been stellar through five games. Hill is completing nearly 66 percent of his passes on the season for 1,745 yards, with 17 touchdowns and only two picks. He has rushed for 136 yards as well.
Hill has been the best SEC quarterback so far in 2014, leading his team to five straight wins. However, Prescott has a chance to show that he is just as dynamic as Hill while facing him in a head-to-head matchup.
Much like its quarterback, MSU has been looking for respect in the SEC. After winning on the road against the LSU Tigers, Dan Mullen and his team gained a certain level of respect. If they can beat a Top 10 team to follow that up, the Bulldogs will find themselves in the mix for the SEC West title. And Prescott could finally get the respect he feels that he’s earned.
