Many believe the Oregon Ducks will be one of the four teams to make college football’s first playoff this year despite the Ducks’ recent lack-of-focus loss to the Arizona Wildcats at home. Oregon is thought to be the only Pac-12 team with a shot at making the four-team playoff this year and winning out will be required in order to do so.

The Washington Huskies may not be ranked in the latest polls, but a 5-1 record to start the season is quite impressive for a team under a new direction at head coach. Coming off a big conference win on the road a week ago, the Huskies are looking to make some noise in the second half of the season.

Oregon has one of the most potent offenses in the entire nation, ranking 20th in passing yards, 27th in rushing yards and seventh in points per game this season. The Ducks have been relying heavily on Heisman-favorite quarterback Marcus Mariota who leads the team with 1,621 yards, 17 touchdowns and not a single interception to go along with a 70 percent completion rate. The junior quarterback also has 290 yards and five rushing touchdowns this season to go along with his unbelievably accurate passing stats. Royce Freeman leads all rushers, however, with 467 yards and seven touchdowns while Byron Marshall is the ultimate weapon, rushing for 219 yards with a score and catching a team-high 29 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns. Devon Allen leads the receivers with 412 yards and six touchdowns on 21 catches while Keanon Lowe is the next closest wide out with 17 catches for 266 yards and four TDs.

While Washington’s pass offense ranks just 106th in the nation this season in terms of yards per game, sophomore quarterback and first-year starter Cyler Myles has been phenomenal despite missing a game to begin the year. Myles completes 66 percent of his passes for 896 yards and nine touchdowns and he has yet to throw an interceptions; neither starting QB in this game has thrown a pick this year. John Ross leads all receivers with 358 yards and four touchdowns, but Myles’ favorite target has been receiver Jaydon Mickens who has a team-high 33 catches to go along with 301 yards and two scores. DiAndre Campbell is the only other receiver with more than 100 receiving yards on the season for the Huskies; he has 150 yards and a score on 13 catches. Lavon Coleman and Dwayne Washington lead the 42nd-ranked rushing attack. Coleman has 410 yards and a touchdown while Washington has 247 yards and three scores. Myles has added 111 yards and three rushing scores of his own.

Defensively, the Huskies have been relatively solid in their first season under new head coach Chris Petersen. Washington ranks 37th in points allowed per contest, but could use some improvement in total yards allowed per game, giving up just under 400. Oregon has struggled heavily this season on the defensive side of the ball, ranking just 60th in points allowed and a lowly 109th in total yards allowed per contest with just under 470. The Autzen Stadium crowd, as always, will be electric for this Pac-12 showdown.

Washington will travel to Oregon to take on the Ducks at 8 p.m. EST on Saturday, Oct. 18. The game will be broadcasted on FOX Sports 1.

PREDICTION: Washington 27, Oregon 42
