This game wasn’t supposed to be very important before the season started. Oklahoma was expected to be undefeated and would easily handle the Iowa State Cyclones. While the game still might be a blowout, the Sooners stand to gain a lot less after two big losses to TCU and Kansas State.

The way things look right now, a two-loss team has virtually no shot at the first ever College Football Playoff. As disappointed as the Sooners may be, they need not take this game lightly. Fans of both teams will remember in 2011 when the No. 2 Sooners lost in dramatic fashion to the Cyclones.

This year, Oklahoma has proven to have talent and can definitely put points on the board, but in their two losses, the defense has not shown up. The Sooners give up about 23 points per game but gave up 30 or more in the two losses.

Iowa State has scored points this year. The Cyclones put up 28 against Kansas State and Baylor, and they scored 45 at Texas last week. They could give Oklahoma trouble if they can hold back that OU offense.

Don’t expect that to happen.

Iowa State may put up points sometimes, but they can’t stop anyone. Texas scored 48 on them, Baylor scored 49 and Oklahoma State scored 37. The Cyclones give up about 35 points on average.

While this game has all the makings of a crazy upset, don’t expect it to happen. Look for Oklahoma to fix some things this week and get back on track.

Prediction: Oklahoma 45, Iowa State 21
