The Georgia Bulldogs will continue with their appeal this week, but the good news is they at least have an idea of when running back Todd Gurley will be able to return to game action.

The NCAA has decided that Gurley will be suspended four games for accepting cash in return for autographing sports memorabilia, which means he will be able to return against the Auburn Tigers on Nov. 15. His involvement came to the forefront when an autograph dealer confessed that he paid Gurley roughly $400 to autograph 80 items in which he intended to sell. All in all, Gurley was reportedly paid more than $3,000 from multiple people to sign memorabilia.

The punishment does not just stop with the suspension, though. Gurley will also have to repay a good amount of the money he made to a charity of his choice. He also must serve 40 hours of community service.

“I take full responsibility for the mistakes I made, and I can’t thank the University, my coaches, and teammates enough for supporting me throughout this process,” Gurley said in a statement issued last week, according to CBS Sports. “I’m looking forward to getting back on the field with my teammates.”

On Oct. 22, Georgia applied for reinstatement on Gurley’s behalf. Despite the good news that he has a return date, the school still intends to do whatever they can to get Gurley back sooner. At this point, I would not count on him to make an appearance prior to Nov. 15. Even though fans are not happy with him missing a couple of more games, the reality is he was wrong in his actions and must suffer the consequences handed down by the NCAA.
