As many of you have probably heard about by now, there was a shooting on the Florida State campus this morning. Former FSU graduate Myron May opened fire on students inside of the campus’ library, wounding three before being killed during a shootout with police.
It’s always terrible to hear about any sort of shootings, especially on school campuses. But today, in the aftermath of the tragic incident at Florida State, someone decided to crack a joke that absolutely no one thought was funny.
Marisa Martin, a reporter for ESPNU’s Campus Connection, tweeted out, “Reported gunman on the FSU campus. Maybe he is heading for Jameis,” a reference to the Seminoles’ polarizing quarterback Jameis Winston. Her account was quickly deleted after that tweet went out, and another tweet from a different account later went out stating that her account had been hacked.
@marisam24 here just letting everyone at FSU know this account was compromised tonight. Sincere apologies and an investigation is underway
