I am sure there are a bunch of people out there who would have rather seen the Georgia Bulldogs go up against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC championship, but the Missouri Tigers earned their spot.
Speaking of which, the Tigers ended the regular season on a six-game winning streak. In no way did they have the toughest schedule in the SEC, but they still played some quality opponents. Not to mention, when it was all said and done, Missouri only had one loss in conference play. That’s not bad for a team that didn’t get any respect this year (won the SEC East and is only ranked as high as No. 13).
Although this is a big game for Missouri, there is clearly more on the line for the Crimson Tide. After all, Alabama still has a shot at making the College Football Playoff, and is likely many people’s favorite to win the title this year. That tends to be the case when a team is ranked No. 1 in the country.
Although Missouri’s defense has been no slouch this year (allowing 19.7 PPG), an Alabama defense is usually considered one of the best on a yearly basis. This year is no different (allowing 16.9 PPG).
Give me QB Blake Sims and the Alabama defense in this game and every other game after that. Nick Saban‘s team is No. 1 in the nation for a reason, and it is going to take a perfect game for the Tigers to pull off the upset. It would take a bad game from the Crimson Tide as well for this upset to go down.
Prediction: Alabama 30, Missouri 14
