Ranking Oregon Duck Football 2014 Uniforms
Scott Olmos-USA TODAY Sports
The Oregon Ducks are notorious for flashy uniforms. Here are all 14 uniform combinations from 2014 ranked, including the upcoming Rose Bowl CFB Playoff against Florida State. Some combos are clearly better than others. But it’s now expected for Oregon to push the uniform envelope -- for good or bad.

What do you get with dull green pants and dull green jerseys? The answer: the worst uniform of the season. That it was Marcus Mariota’s likely last home game overshadowed this, fortunately.

The military-style socks are the best part. Otherwise, the gray pants are outstandingly blah, and with the white tops looks almost monochrome in a very bad way. I don’t mind the gray matte helmet, however.

Dull green, and as already noted I hate the gray pants. The game started at 11 in the morning Pacific Time, and it was a home game -- ridiculous. So at that time of day the audience probably doesn’t really want shiny uniforms, and boy did the Ducks deliver there. Did I mention I hate the gray pants?

Not a fan of the white helmets with white tops with green numbers and green pants either. It should work better than it does here and I’m not sure why. Oh well, it was the season opener against a non-Power 5 opponent, no need to be over-flashy. Oregon could have worn pretty much anything for this game and fans would have been excited. And that happened.

Big opponent, big stage -- bright yellow makes people pay attention. These uniforms certainly do that. On a sunny Oregon Saturday, all-yellow is a fantastic idea. So it was right to bust them out here. On a dark rainy Oregon night, these would win worst uniform of the year.

Decidedly unflashy (a comparative word) for the Civil War, but this time that’s a good thing. Not trying to one-up the home team in what ended up being Mike Riley’s last game as Oregon State head coach but still maintaining a very distinct Oregon look.

A classic stadium like the Rose Bowl and a clean white uniform with green numbers to go with a sunny Pasadena afternoon -- no complaints here, as long as all-white remains a day-game only option.

First road game of the season and looking good -- black and yellow, sharp at night.

Though not as sharp as white and yellow at night, they're better than the Game 1 white jerseys (No. 11) because of the dark shoulder wings and numbers.

However, these are the best road uniforms of the year. They have the white helmets again, but with the good green tops, yellow numbers and white pants, it's a great look.

When Oregon loses, I’ve noticed that uniform combo gets wiped from the wardrobe options. But wearing pink is part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Some other media outlets, not knowing the reason, ridiculed Oregon for including the color. Like it wouldn’t even cross their mind that the Ducks did this for a cause? Ridiculous. But I bet we don’t see black and pink again. Not against Arizona again, that’s for sure.

But the black tops and pants ought to return, and they did, a month later against Stanford. Nearly the same as the pink breast cancer uniforms but with yellow accents instead -- great stuff.

Similar to the Oregon State uniforms (No. 9), but “next generation,” it has subdued shoulder blade wings and replaced with the Oregon “O” on the helmet. The “O” hasn’t been prominent in a couple of years so that’s nice to see. It also has a Duck back on the shoulders. I would have preferred yellow pants but anything’s better than gray. It leaned to the retro side, and no doubt finalized after the great reaction to the best uniform of the year.

For all the current flash and dash, the best uniform of the year was a throwback. For the 20th anniversary of “The Pick,” a 97-yard interception return by Kenny Wheaton against Washington that sealed Oregon’s first Rose Bowl since the 1950s, the Ducks wore the same exact uniform; even with the interlocking helmet “UO” and Donald Duck on the shoulders. That was a big treat. Donald hasn’t been on an official Oregon uniform for more than a decade.
