Before the Peach Bowl even started, the TCU Horned Frogs could have made a great case for the College Football Playoff. Unfortunately, the playoff committee snubbed both Big 12 contenders.
After a blowout victory against the Ole Miss Rebels, the Horned Frogs made their case even stronger for the playoff. The Horned Frogs managed to beat one of the SEC‘s best by the score of 42-3. This is the same Ole Miss Rebels team that looked destined for a spot in the playoff earlier in the year.
To say the least, the Rebels ended the season on a disappointing note. Not only did they get blown out of this game, but they lost four of their last six. A victory against the Mississippi State Bulldogs surely gave Ole Miss some momentum going into the Peach Bowl, but TCU was clearly the better team.
Not getting a single team into the playoff certainly hurts for the Big 12, but the Horned Frogs made a huge statement for their conference. This will surely have many people complaining about the playoff since TCU was snubbed. If the Baylor Bears can knock off the Michigan State Spartans in the Cotton Bowl, there are going to be even more fans bashing the current system.
Regardless, TCU came to play, while Ole Miss was a no-show. The Horned Frogs can end the season knowing they gave it their all. Only losing one game in 2014 and dominating one of the best teams in the country will surely have TCU off to a great new year.
