Imagine going to work every day and arriving at that workplace to see a statue of yourself outside. While most people will never get to experience something like that, it happens to Nick Saban each and every day he goes to the office.
To say that Saban is revered as the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide would be an understatement. Saban is the man who brought the program back to competing for SEC and national championships. He is the man who breathed life into a program that had taken steps back before his arrival.
Saban has coached Alabama for eight seasons and has posted a record of 86-17. Let that sink in for a minute. He’s basically lost two games per season for eight straight years. Now, take out his first season in Tuscaloosa, when the Tide went 7-6. That would mean Saban has lost a total of 11 games in seven years.
During his eight-year tenure in Tuscaloosa, Saban has won three national championships, and had the top-seeded team heading into the first College Football Playoff last year. He recently signed yet another top-rated recruiting class and his team appears poised to compete for the SEC championship again in 2015.
To say that Saban is not on the hot seat is stating the obvious. Other than Bear Bryant, Saban may be the most beloved coach in Alabama history. He already has a statue outside the stadium and has a number of years to continue to add to his already formidable resume.
Unless Saban decides to retire or leave, he will be the Alabama coach for the foreseeable future.
