5 Must-Watch Utah Utes Football Games in 2015 By Bryan Zarpentine PREV NEXT 5 Must-Watch Utah Football Games in 2015 Susan Ragan-USA TODAY Sports The Utah Utes had a breakout season of sorts in 2014, as they won nine games, including a 5-4 conference record as part of the ultra-competitive Pac-12 South. Kyle Whittingham will be looking to take his team to the next level in 2015, but it won't be easy with the schedule the Utes will face this season. Here are five must-watch games on the Utah schedule in 2015. 5. Vs. Michigan, Sept. 3 Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports 5. Vs. Michigan, Sept. 3 Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports For most of college football, this will be known as Jim Harbaugh's debut as Michigan's head coach, but for the Utes it'll be a chance to start their season on the right foot. Utah won in Ann Arbor last year, and they're likely to be favored at home this season, but they can still make a statement by beating a Big 10 team in the opener. On a Thursday night on opening weekend, this will be a game that has plenty of fanfare. 4. At Oregon, Sept. 26 Getty Images 4. At Oregon, Sept. 26 Getty Images In the Pac 12, any game you play against Oregon is a big deal. Like most teams, the Utes had trouble containing the Oregon offense last season, giving up 51 points to the Ducks, but the Utah defense is in good shape heading into 2015, and they'll be looking forward to getting another shot at the Ducks. If Utah loses its conference opener to Oregon, it's no big deal, but it would be huge if the Utes can find a way to pull the upset. 3. Vs. Utah State, Sept. 11 Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports 3. Vs. Utah State, Sept. 11 Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports This is a major in-state rivalry for the Utes, and a rivalry Utah has dominated as of late, winning 13 of the last 14 games. Despite that recent dominance, the Aggies are a quality team that should give the Utes everything they can handle. After these two teams didn't play last season, both teams should be eager to get after one another, which should heighten the intensity of this rivalry game even more. 2. If Utah is going to take another step forward this year, they have to beat one of the Pac 12's top teams, and they need to do so on the road. Beating the Wildcats will be no easy task, but Utah should be better prepared to compete with Arizona than they were a year ago. 1. At USC, Oct. 24 Getty Images 1. At USC, Oct. 24 Getty Images Beating USC was one of the highlight's of Utah's season in 2014, and taking down the Trojans for a second straight year would be huge for the Utes, especially if it means winning on the road. But this may be the best team USC has had in years, and the toughest opponent Utah faces all season. This is not only a great opportunity for Utah to earn another statement win, but it's a chance to measure themselves against an elite program.
